The weekend of Joel

Day 117 – Fri 25th Nov - Party Prep

Let the weekend of Joel begin.  Yep it’s my nephew’s 1st birthday next week and my sister is planning a huge party on Sunday to celebrate.  I took today off to help her cook/ play Aunty.  We spent the day at mum’s and it was great, I just sat on the floor and pretty much played with Joel all day – we went for a walk in the rain, we clapped and danced and sang (badly).  I also got to hang with my sis and did a bit of shopping which was nice as we don’t see each other much these days.  I have heaps of photo’s of my gorgeous nephew, but they are just for the fam, so today’s photo is of the lolly bag preparation!

Day 118 – Sat 26th Nov - We miss you Bro
Again I spent the morning around the house cleaning – it was pouring with rain today and all our fingers are crossed that it fines up for the party in the park tomorrow.  I spent the afternoon/evening down at my Sister's house helping her get ready for the Party.  Today’s photo is dedicated to our Brother.  He is living in Scotland at the moment and hopefully will return to Aus sometime next year.  Coca Cola are running a huge promotion at the moment where they have people’s names on coke cans, they also have things like Nan, Champ, Mate etc so of course I thought the Bro one was most appropriate - come home soon!!!

Day 119 – Sun 27th Nov - Happy 1st Birthday
So I took about 150 or so photo’s today – the sun came out, the park was decorated and a great day celebrating Joel’s birthday was had by all.  Really hard to decide which was my favourite photo today.  All the cousins and kids were in posing moods and I got some brilliant photo’s.  I have decided to dedicate today to the birthday boy though – this is the cake that my sister made for him – pretty cool hey – bit stressful getting the end product but I think it worked out pretty well.  Check Facebook for the rest of the party photos

65 down - 300 to go!

Day 65 - Tuesday 4th Oct 11 - Footprints

The beginning of October means that daylight savings starts in the Eastern states of Australia.  HOOOOOOORRRRRRRAAAAAAYYYYY - this means I get at least an hour of daylight when I get home - makes such a difference to my general state of mind.

Today I went to the beach for a walk after work which was just brilliant - it was another glorious sunset and whilst it was a bit cool, it was still nice to have my feet in the sand and listen to the waves.  I love this photo of all the footprints on the beach - just shows that everyone is out and about and enjoying the longer days and small amounts of sunshine we have been getting.  I got hacked on the other day for the number of flower photo's I've taken so far but wait til the end of summer, I reckon I'll have just as many beach photo's as I intend on spending a fair bit of time heading to the beach over the next few months!

Day 66 - Wednesday 5th Oct 11 - Cake
I have been really good and eating super healthy for a few weeks now - but we had a new girl start at work this week and she baked for us now this was not just any cake but the most divine chocolate cake ever!!!

So I blew the diet today and ate this delicious slice of cake.  I thought it would make a good photo with my coffee mug - It's not too bad but you can't really see the detail in the cake, I should have played with my AV more - but I was super keen to eat it!!!
Anyway back to the no chocolate thing after today as that cake sat in my stomach like a brick all day!!

Day 67 - Thursday 6th Oct 11 - Spaghetti
Tina picked me up after work today which was nice and as she rang me early I knew we would go out and I would hopefully get a good photo of the kids - which we did.  Now I have to share a little story about my family and the relation to this photo.

Every year for as long as I can remember, as soon as the family sits down to eat Xmas lunch - one of my aunties is guaranteed to grab the camera and start taking photo's. For year's and year's we have hacked on her about this as she seems to time it perfectly every year and it is now a running family joke if she doesn't.

Anyway - for some reason, I seem to have this fascination of taking photo's of kid's eating food which I think is quite ironic considering how much of a hard time I give to Aunty Kerry.  I don't know why but I love how messy kid's are when they eat and how much they enjoy their food.

So today's photo is of Miss Jemima Ann eating Spag Bol - it was taking with my snap happy so the lighting isn't that great and of course I just missed the best shot of her smiling with the spaghetti hanging out of her mouth - wasn't quite trigger happy enough for that one.

I know it is not the most flattering photo ever but I think it is brilliant - especially considering it was taken with my point and shoot!
